Basic technical requirements for gear pump safety valves

Basic technical requirements for Gear Pump safety valves:

1) Safety valves for steam with a setting pressure greater than 3.0 MPa or safety valves for air or other gases with a medium temperature greater than 235 °C shall prevent the discharged medium from directly eroding the spring.

2) The gear pump steam safety valve must be equipped with a wrench. When the medium pressure reaches 75% of the set pressure, the valve can be lifted with a wrench, and the wrench should not hinder the action of the valve.

3) For safety valves with toxic or flammable media, closed safety valves must be used and leakage from the bonnet and the shroud gasket should be prevented.

4) In order to prevent the mechanism for adjusting the amount of compression of the spring from loosening and to change the adjusted pressure at will, it is necessary to provide a lock-proof device and a lead seal.

5) The gear pump seat should be fixed on the valve body and should not be loose. The full-open safety valve should be equipped with a mechanism to limit the opening height.

6) If the gear pump safety valve is partially damaged, it should be able to reach the rated displacement. When the spring is damaged, the valve disc and other parts will not fly out of the valve body.

7) For safety valves with additional back pressure, the back pressure balance mechanism should be set according to the magnitude and variation of the pressure.

8) The gear pump shall be tested for the sealing and opening action of the pilot valve and the main valve respectively for the pilot-operated safety valve, and shall meet the performance requirements specified in the standard.
